Everybody knows our new gadgets now, also called iPad, smartphone, etc.
Did you ever wonder why they are so popular? Of course, they are cool, and handy (think of the German word for a mobile phone!) and can do a lot of things. We also call them computers, but there is a big difference to the personal computer. For most of the so called apps you just consume content, very seldomly you provide content (picture sharing on Facebook is no real content).
More & more the industries provide other content via these devices, like streaming not only on demand videos but also soaps, including advertisements. They just discover the internet as another channel to distribute this kind of stuff. Just view these tablets, smartphones, etc. as another form of a TV. It's only another distribution channel (this is an approach that the music & print industry still did not get).
